The Emages Executive of the Year Awards are awarded in a series of categories, each of which isolate a specific contribution and individual achievements of Nigeria’s top leading executives including the exceptional contributions made by Top Executives, CEOs and Senior Management, highlighting their achievements over the past 12 months in their given organizations.
The standard awards list nominees in each category from which a winner is selected. Twenty-nine awards will be awarded in the first award ceremony, but the number of awards will grow and fluctuated over time as new categories will emerge and added and some probably some removed.
Please make sure you have properly read the categories and criteria before entering. The criteria is different for each category and you are able to enter multiple categories. You can also enter more than once in each category, provided they are different entries.

With so many executives forging an inspiring path in their given industries across Nigeria, it’s certainly no easy task to decide who is most worthy of winning at the annual event. Here’s what you need to know about the judging process for the 29 categories, including CEO of the Year.
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must
TOP EXECUTIVE
Must hold one of the following titles: C-level, president, owner, partner, executive director, or mayor/city manager/city council.
CORPORATE OFFICE
Work for a company with its headquarters, regional headquarters or branch office in Nigeria.
COMPANY SUCCESS
Show quantitative data for his/her contributions to the company’s success,
COMPANY initiative
Give examples of the strategic initiatives that strengthened the company’s market position.

How Do I Apply For An Award?
To apply for an award:
- Check Criteria: Check eligibility criteria.
- Register online: Begin application in application awards platform
- Answer questions: Answer questions as outlined above.
- Upload attachments: Upload any supporting documents (optional).
- Submit application: Submit application and No payment fee required.
Who Can Apply For An Award?
To be eligible for an Emages Executive of the Year Awards, applicants should:
- Role: Be employed full time in a senior position (full time not applicable to the Chairperson Award).
- Company: Work for an organization reaching an annual turnover of N50m+ within Nigeria (Turnover not applicable to NFP & Start-Up).
- Availability: Be available to attend the awards from 4pm on Friday 27th October, 2023 at EKO HOTELS & SUITES, Lagos
- Additional Awards: Applicants for the CEO of the Year and Managing Director of the Year awards are also required to apply for an industry award. For category-specific criteria, please refer to the categories page and select ‘Criteria’ to see the details for that award.
How Much Does It Cost To Apply For An Award?
No payment fee is required per person and these applications can cover for multiple awards. For instance, applicants for the CEO of the Year and Managing Director of the Year awards are also required to apply for an industry award.
How Long Does It Take To Apply For An Award?
While the amount of time spent on an application is up to each individual, we recommend allocating approximately 30 minutes to complete an application based on the following requirements.
Applicants are required to answer four equally weighted questions that refer to their achievements in the last 12 months. Each question has a maximum answer length of 200 words. There are two general questions and two category specific questions for each award. Applicants can take a look at the questions in advance by visiting the all categories page and selecting ‘Criteria’ beside the relevant award.
Do I Need To Attach Supporting Documentation?
Supporting documents are not an essential part of the application process. They are optional and can be used to clarify a point or support an answer to a question.
It should be noted that while judges can view the supporting documentation, it does not form part of the assessment.
